| TransTech Pharma and Novo Nordisk A/S Collaborate On TTP Translational Technology™ HIGH POINT, N.C., and COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- TransTech Pharma Inc (TTP) and Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE: NVO) today announced a five-year strategic research collaboration. The collaboration will combine TTP's proprietary TTP Translational Technology™ including its PharmaChem Space™, TTProbes™ (discovery chemistry technology) and its PharmaBio Space™ (biology discovery technology) with Novo Nordisk's biological targets to create novel clinical candidates for the treatment of human diseases."Through the use of TTP Translational Technology™ in conjunction with genomic and proteomic technologies, TTP has been able to rapidly validate the function of a wide range of novel biological targets (limited knowledge of their 3D structure, functions or previously known modulators) and discover novel small molecules as preclinical drug candidates," said Dr Adnan Mjalli, president and CEO of TransTech Pharma. "Therefore, our TTP Translational Technology™ provides an efficient translation of novel targets to drug candidates, bypassing most of the bottlenecks in drug discovery. "We are extremely excited about having Novo Nordisk as our first strategic partner. In addition, we are impressed by the quality of Novo Nordisk's biological targets and their drug discovery expertise, especially in diabetes and obesity. According to this agreement, TTP Translational Technology™ will be applied against a maximum of five Novo Nordisk projects for the validation and the discovery of optimal small molecules as therapeutics. As part of the agreement TTP will receive upfront, research support, milestone and royalty payments on each project. In return, Novo Nordisk will be given an exclusive, worldwide licence to certain products emanating from the collaboration," Mjalli, added. Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, executive vice president and chief science officer at Novo Nordisk said, "We are very impressed by TTP's TTP Translational Technology™ including the TTProbes™ that deliver a focused yet infinitely adjustable solution to lead discovery or biological target validation in an accelerated process. We believe this will be an effective and rapid way of validating our biological targets and identifying drug candidates to our pipeline." "Our TTP Translational Technology™ has been successfully applied on a wide range of proprietary biological targets and produced novel small-molecule drug candidates for the treatment of diabetes, cancer, inflammation, Alzheimer's disease and thrombosis," concluded Dr Mjalli.
